Nivindu Mini Hydro power plant is one of the most modern mini hydro power plants in the country having a capacity of 03 MW and owned by Lanka Transformers Limited. River Garden Resort is very famous for nature lovers and picturesque Belihuloya flows behind the resort.

Journey commenced at 0630 Hrs from College House by an air-conditioned bus. At Kuruwita we had breakfast and bus reached the Nivindu Mini Hydro power plant around 1100 Hrs. Kosala the engineer in charge of the power plant took us around the power house and made a presentation about the power plant. Everybody was fascinated by the beautiful environment around the plant and how beautifully the power plant and the surrounding environment are maintained.

After the guided tour we broke journey at the picturesque River Garden Resort for water sports. Everybody enjoyed the Belihuloya waters and picturesque surrounding of River Garden Resort.. Children too had a memorable time enjoying in the waters of Belihuloya. Hot / Cold drinks were available in plenty and after spending three hours in the water everybody had a delicious lunch in the resort. We left Belihuloya in the evening and reached Colombo around 2000 hrs.

The major portion of the cost on this trip was borne by the Association and the Lanka Transformers Limited who sponsored lunch at River Garden Resort. President of CMBAAA Mr. Rohan Seneviratne organized die event. Special thanks to Mr. U.D Jayewardene General Manager of the Lanka Transformers Limited who facilitated the visit to Nvindu Power Plant.
